As part of the national “Green Ghana” campaign, Consolidated Bank Ghana LTD (CBG) has embarked on a significant tree planting exercise at the Hwehwe Forest Reserve in Kwahu Mpraeso in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Held under the theme “Growing for a Greener Tomorrow: CBG’s Commitment,” the initiative aims to plant 60,000 trees over the next three years. The exercise saw enthusiastic participation from CBG staff, local residents, community leaders, and environmental partners.

The Managing Director of CBG, Mr. Daniel Wilson Addo, led the exercise by symbolically planting the first tree. He emphasized the Bank’s dedication to environmental stewardship and the long-term significance of the initiative.

He stated, “As an organization, we have a responsibility to wider stakeholders, including the communities in which we operate. Today, we are not just planting trees but investing in the future of our planet. Our commitment to environmental sustainability goes beyond our operations, and we are proud to support the national effort to restore Ghana’s forests and combat climate change.”

Community leaders, Forestry Commission officials, and residents expressed appreciation for CBG’s leadership in promoting a greener Ghana. Nana Sarfoa Agyapoma, the Queen Mother of Kwahu Hwehwe, applauded the Bank for choosing their community and encouraged other corporate institutions to emulate CBG’s example.

The Vice President of the Ghana Institute of Foresters (GIF), Isaac Adonteng, also commended the Bank’s efforts and assured that GIF would continue to offer technical support and expertise to organizations committed to forest restoration and conservation.

Mr. Addo was joined during the tree planting activity by other members of the Bank’s management team, including John Obiri, Gerald Quartey, Charles Appiah, and Samuel Chiatey Barketey.

This initiative highlights CBG’s unwavering commitment to environmental protection and its active role in supporting Ghana’s broader climate resilience agenda.
